I always think of that episode where Phoebe's so worried about lovelorn Joey that she lets him look after a dog, but he starts pouring his heart out over Rachel and the dog ends up looking depressed

It was gross how he was made to feel guilty over loving Rachel. When Ross finds out and completely overreacts as he always does... Joey literally tells Monica he wants to leave the country out of shame for loving his friend's ex. It's insane how much he has to punish himself over an unrequited love.

Chandler and Phoebe were definitely the easiest out the group for Joey to turn to about Rachel

Unfortunately, I think Chandler being married to Ross' sister always made this a tough thing for Joey to open up to him about.

Maybe, I always felt like Chandler was fully on Joey's side though, & wouldn't discuss anything Joey told him with Monica. Monica was obviously never unbiased at all...
