When I look at how Peyton was in s5, I honestly wonder if Mark was writing her that way because that's how much he wanted her to want him...

The show ended years ago. And they do sound very genuine.

The only likable version of Peyton for me always was - and always going to be - a S2 one. Cause in my eyes only with Jake she was able to actually live her life to the fullest. Able to let herself be happy and enjoy this happiness. She never smiled so much ever again, never was so open, so at peace as she was in that season. Oh, and she also wasn't selfish beyond words, wasn't obsessed with something or someone on such an unhealthy level up to the point where it seemed like she dissolved into the other person and couldn't even function without that person. And she didn't constantly blame other people for the things she had no rights to blame them for.
In other words, she was way more balanced, healthy and mature back in S2 as a teen than in later seasons as an adult. That Peyton is a character i actually loved and was proud of. Unfortunately for a very short period of time.

I don't know about 6 but she was awful in Season 5 and running straight back to Lucas after he did her wrong was gross.

everyone seems to like Brooke and Peyton in the later seasons but I'm not too sure why.
