My wish was to get NS DB endgame. It made the most sense.

It is so sad how they reduced Nate's character to this vanilla guy who is just there and with nothing better to do but get stuck with gueststar relationships that was never going anywhere.

He was a nice guy and deserved better.

NS and DB were the healthiest ships on the show. I don't understand demolishing them for other ships that do NOT make any sense.

^ I loved their jealousy of each other's dates in that episode They just wanted to be together.

No words to express how much I hated Dan and Serena together. By far, the most mismatched couple, and yet the writers tried to convince people ~nobody understood Serena like Dan~ Absolute nonsense. Dan judged her and his weakest points in the show were when they were together.

Nate loved Serena, flaws and all.

Remember the S2 premiere when Dan saw Nate/Serena kiss and said sarcastically, "of course"

I totally agree that the writers shafted Nate after Season 3. I never understood why they were so determined to go back to Derena, after it was established that Serena could never be comfortable with herself when she was with Dan.

Season 3 was messy. I liked her with Carter but they just got rid of him like he never mattered. Then they FINALLY do Serenate, but somehow, bring Dan back into the equation even though he fell for Vanessa.

Serena always had to lie about herself with Dan. She never was like that with Dan.

Just the knowledge that Serena ended up with Gossip Girl - the same person who she'd claimed in the past to have destroyed her life - is ridiculous.


Anyway, I think the writing was poor in the later seasons. They went back to Derena because they thought Dan's whole world should revolve around Serena, even though they had grown way beyond each other after Season 1.


Nate (and Serenate) paid the price for the writers centralizing Dan.

Season 6 is a product of horrendous writing.

You could definitely tell that there was a distinct lack of effort by that point

Nate was basically in the background from Season 4 onwards. They just didn't know what to do with him.

I would say it is rather Chuck's centralization that ruined it though. Nate's main storyline from season1, NBS triangle didn't last long and from there on the boy didn't get any decent SLs of its own. Chuck was supposed to be on the sidelines but got the male lead part while Nate got sidekick storylines, C plots and random gueststars thrown his way.

Nate and Serena were supposed to be much bigger and have more influence on the show but they never went through with that. It is a shame because they had good chemistry.
