I am convinced this is the reaction the writers/director wanted. Look how they set the scene! The lighting is beautiful

And they could see DG's face just as plainly as we can; they could've told him "Once more but with less eyesex this time, 'kay?" but they didn't

And his final line reminds me of how KW said they had Katherine say that "that sounds like the beginning of a love story Stefan" line in the same episode they had Elena say she hates Damon for a reason. So they give Elijah that line about not making the same mistake again and my shippery heart is fluttering

ETA: Gotta step out, guys, 2 yr old nephew drama. Will be back later. I figure we can repost the Survivor for a new round once a page, so if someone else comes in and votes just go ahead and grab it for the new round.

Elijah: Human. It's impossible. Hello there.

Elena: It doesn't work that way.
Elijah: Are you negotiating with me?

Elijah: Tell me where the moonstone is.
Elena: In the tomb underneath the church ruins.
Elijah: What is it doing there?
Elena: It's with Katherine.
Elijah: Interesting.

2. ELENA DISTRACTS ELIJAH.
Elena: I'll come with you. Don't hurt my friends. They just wanted to
help me out.
Elijah: What game are you playing with me?

3. ELIJAH TRACKS ELENA VIA MAGIC.

4. ELIMINATED ROUND 2.

5. ELIJAH APPEARS AT ELENA'S HOUSE.
Elijah: Hey. I'm Elijah.

Elijah: It's a pleasure.

Elijah: And, Elena...I hope to see you again sometime soon.

Elijah: That's a wise choice.
Elena: What do you want?
Elijah: I think it's time you and I had a little chat.

6. ELIJAH AND ELENA NEGOTIATE.
Elijah: Oh, forgive the intrusion. I mean your family no harm.
Elena: Why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take me?
Elijah: Because I didn't want you to be taken.

Elijah: Together we can protect everybody that matters to you. So do
we have a deal?
Elena: I need you to do one more thing for me.
Elijah: We're negotiating now?

7. ELENA KILLS ELIJAH.
Elijah: You know, I might not be able to enter this house... But I'm a
very patient man. I'll wait you out.
Elena: They shouldn't have done what they did.
Elijah: The deal is off.
Elena: I'm renegotiating.

8. ELIMINATED ROUND ONE.

9. ELENA REVIVES ELIJAH.

10. ELIJAH AWAKENS.
Elena: Elijah. Elijah! It's me, it's Elena. Shh.
Elijah: Oh, my God. I can't-- I can't breathe! What's happened to me?
Elena: Are you ok?
Elijah: I can't... I can't be in this house.
Elena: You're not invited in.
Elijah: You need to get me out of here.

11. ELENA NEGOTIATES A CEASE-FIRE.
Elijah: What happened?
Elena: Shh! I'll tell you. Not here. Can I trust you?
Elijah: Can I trust you?

12. ELENA ASKS FOR ELIJAH'S HELP.
Elena: You look better.
Elijah: Where did you get the dagger?
Elena: I'll tell you everything. But we have to work together, Elijah. I need your word.
Elijah: Your ability to make demands has long passed.
Elena: No demands. I'm offering you my help. And in return, I want yours.
Elijah: And why should I even consider this?
Elena: The same reason that you haven't killed me. You need my help to kill Klaus.
And I need you.

13. ELENA CALLS ELIJAH A NOBLE MAN.
Elena: No, Stefan, Elijah and I need some time alone. Elijah is a noble man, Stefan.
He lives by a code of honor. I can trust him. He knows that I'd be incredibly
stupid to betray him again. By removing the dagger,
I have proven myself.

14. ELENA GIVES ELIJAH HER PHONE.

15. ELIJAH FINDS OUT ABOUT KLAUS.
Elena: He's here.
Elijah: Klaus is here?
Elena: He's taken over Alaric's body.
Elijah: Of course he has. One of his favorite tricks.
Elena: Well, what are his other tricks? What is he going to do next?
You're the only one who knows him.
Elijah: Yes, I do.

16. ELIJAH AND ELENA GO TO THE LOCKWOOD'S.
Elena: How did you know she's not on vervain?
Elijah: 'Cause I'm the one who got her off it. Right before you and your friends killed me.
Twice.

17. ELIJAH AND ELENA DISCUSS THE SITUATION.
Elijah: So I assume that the Martin witches are no longer with us.
Elena: No. I'm sorry.

Elijah: Yes. Klaus is my brother.
Elena: I heard that. I'm still processing.
Elijah: Yes, I'm a little behind on the times, but I believe the term you're searching
for is "O.M.G."

18. ELIJAH TELLS ELENA ABOUT HIS FAMILY.
Elijah: Our origin as vampires is a very long story, Elena.
Just know...we're the oldest vampires in the world. We are the Original family, and from us
all vampires were created.
Elena: Right, but Klaus is your brother. And you want him dead?
Elijah: I need some air. I'm still feeling a tad...dead. Come.

19. ELIJAH TELLS ELENA THE CURSE IS FAKE.
Elena: I don't understand. So Klaus drew the Aztec sketches about the curse?
Elijah: Roman scrolls, African tribal etchings, and any other culture or continent we felt like
planting it in.
Elena: But why?
Elijah: Easiest way to discover the existence of a doppelganger or to get your hands on some
long, lost moon stone is to have every single member of two warring species on the lookout.
Elena: So it's not Aztec at all?
Elijah: The curse of the sun and the Moon... is fake. It doesn't exist.
Elena: What?

20. ELIJAH TELLS ELENA THE CURSE IS FAKE.
Elijah: There's a curse. Just not that one. The real one's much worse. It's a curse placed
on Klaus.

Elijah: Your phone will not stop its incessant buzzing. Answer it, please.
Elena: Stefan--what's wrong? No. No, no, no, no. Ok, I'll be right there. Klaus went after Jenna.
I have to go to her.
Elijah: I'm afraid that wasn't part of today's arrangement.
Elena: She's my family, Elijah. I have to. I'll be back. You have my word.
Elijah: That doesn't mean anything to me until you live up to it.
Elena: Thank you.

21. ELENA RETURNS TO ELIJAH.
Elijah: Welcome back.
Elena: Tell me. What is Klaus' curse?
Elijah: Please.

22. ELIJAH EXPLAINS THE REAL CURSE.
Elena: So Klaus' real father was from a werewolf bloodline? What does that make Klaus?
A werewolf? Or a vampire?
Elijah: He's both. A hybrid would be deadlier than any werewolf or vampire.
Nature would not stand for such an imbalance of power. Therefore the witches,
the servants of nature, saw to it that my brother's werewolf side would become dormant.
Elena: That's the curse that Klaus wants to break?

Elena: What if I told you that I knew a witch that could channel that much power?
Elijah: Then I would tell you there's one more thing that you should know.

23. ELENA REALIZES SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO DIE
AND ELIJAH LIES LIES LIES.
Elena: You found a way to save the life of the doppelganger?
Elijah: Yes, Elena. I did. But unfortunately, Katerina took matters into her own
hands first. I believe you already know how that played out.
Elena: You cared about her, didn't you?
Elijah: It's a common mistake, I'm told. And it's one I won't make again.

24. ELENA BRAGS ABOUT ELIJAH.
Elena: Sacrifice is going to happen, Damon. Bonnie will be able to kill Klaus without
hurting herself and Elijah knows how to save my life. I told you I'd find another way.
And I did.

25. ELIJAH EXPLAINS THE RITUAL.
Elena: And where do I fit into it?
Elijah: The final part of the ritual. Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelganger...
to the point of your death.
Elena: And that's where you come in. This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years
ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation.
Elena: So I'll be dead?
Elijah: And then you won't.

26. ELIJAH AND ELENA DISCUSS HER REASON.
Elena: You'd think he'd understand why I'm willing to do this.
Elijah: Why are you?
Elena: I'm the key to breaking the curse. Klaus is here because of me. If I don't
stop him, then he's going to hurt people. It's that simple.
Elijah: You know, there's a possibility this elixir won't work. I don't want to mislead you.
Elena: I know the chance I'm taking

27. ELENA LOOKS TO ELIJAH.

28. ELIJAH STANDS NEXT TO ELENA.
