I agree, in a way, it makes their story more compelling. Also, so many more people remember that about Little Women than anything else.
I think my favorite is when they first meet. They were so cute, and I loved when they danced crazily around in that little room.  However, my favorite line is when Laurie says, "I have loved you from the moment I clamped eyes on you." Hehe. Awesome.  __________________

I'd have to agree with you. The scene where they first meet is so memorable, yet I'm a sucker for the proposal scene. I also love their hug toward the end of the movie (after Laurie and Amy were already married).

I agree with everyone else, I think their best scene is when they meet for the first time... but any scene between them is pretty cute

I don't think Laurie ever stopped loving Jo, although it may have become a different kind of love after he married Amy.

Recently I was in Barnes and Noble and was reading a set of Cliff's Notes on Little Women. I read in an "Analysis/Commentary" section for the last few chapters of the book where the author of the Cliff's Notes hinted that perhaps, even though Laurie married Amy, there is something lost in his love and marriage to her. This seems to confirm a number of things I witnessed in the movie and in reading the book, in that Jo and Laurie had a very innocent, fun, and childlike relationship, whereas with Amy, Laurie is more reserved and adult. And though everyone is happy at the end, something I noticed and was happy to see that the Cliff's Notes noticed was that perhaps there is a downside to this. In that way, I think Laurie will always see his love for Jo as something beautiful that happened in the past, but because it's in the past it can't be destroyed or touched.
