They were about the only couple on a TV drama to get through sweeps without cheating on each other and choose to make their relationship work while still finding the time to fool around in exam rooms, make sex tapes and save lives. And they looked hot while doing it. Doctors, firemen and horny Brits threatened to come between them but nothing was ever able to keep Doug and Carol apart for long. That's why one of them didn't move to Phoenix, Philadelphia or even the Congo, as other ER couples did. They persevered and they got their happy ending. It just took them six years to do it. It feel like it's the start of the JH thread all over again. When no-one came in and bothered us and we could triple post as much as we wanted or talk about what we want.
Well, that hasn't really changed, I suppose. There's a really great interview with Julianna here where she explains why she quit the show. Today Some people (including myself) may find it insane to turn down $27million but you can't knock her honesty and reasons. |

I can totally respect that.
Like Michelle said, it would have been nice if the cast of T7S would have had that kind of self-respect and respect for their fans to not just do a show for the money. __________________

Ooh, we have a divide.
I'd like to think I wouldn't continue just for the money but it must have been tempting to remain in such a safe situation - being on the top rated show in the country and working with such a great creative team. The only concern I would have had for Julianna sticking with the show for another 2 years would be that they might have pursued further a relationship with Luka. George's career really began to take off big time in 2001/2002 and it would have been very difficult for him to return for any guest spots. I just worry that we may not have gotten our happy ending if she stayed another two years. But it would be crazy to turn down $27million. I'm beginning to see why it took her a year and a half to make this decision. I'm going to bed now. The topless Doug pics are in the last thread in case you get hungry.
