(God, Hyde is SO HOT in that shot.)

Yeah but also if Danny hadn't protected Hyde's character during the good seasons, Stephen, those awesome open moments wouldn't have seemed so awesome. You know. Like when Eric opened up, who cares, he always did. No biggie. But Hyde NEVER did. So when he did, it meant something.

So you think Danny is the cause of the bad JH in 6 and 7? That retard better not have been. :irked:

Oh, and I think Fez got big laughs because Wilmer made Fez funny. I'll admit, for the charceter he was playing, Wilmer was a brilliant actor. It was the WAY he chose to say those lines that had you rolling, you know. He was brilliant in that role. I will give him that.

And if Danny was so protective of Hyde, how could he let that happen to Hyde in season 8? I don't get it. He turned into white trash.

Then again, maybe Danny values white trash (strange for a New Yorker), look at his gf. Now, I'm not bashing, and I know technically she isn't because of her family, but sometimes she really looks like it, and yeah, you know what I mean. *sigh*

Haha, no I don't think it was him. I think it was Ashton becoming a megastar and the writers shunning the other characters enough so he could have a big storyline and step away from the JH triangle. And without Kelso to cause trouble, the writers got bored and stopped showing Jackie and Hyde evolving as a couple. Kinda like they had Jackie and Hyde evolving in Season 5 to show the difference in Jackie and Kelso's relationship.

Danny won't ****in shut up about loving Season 8. But I hope he means that he loved the atmosphere on set now that Topher was gone and he, Wilmer and Ashton weren't seen to be the 3 bullies excluding Topher from their activities. For filming Season 8, Danny got to hang out just with Laura, Wilmer and Mila and they're 3 of his best friends in real life. I pray to God that's what Danny loved because, jeez, the writing sucked. What was said:

"Although emotions were running high when the finale was shot a few weeks ago, Masterson insists he has had more fun during this last season than he has had since the show premiered."

And about his character:

"When a script might have Hyde saying or revealing too much, my director, David Trainer, and I would always say, 'No, this can only come out as an attack. That's the only way people can see that Hyde is actually vulnerable."

Argh. It was smart tactic for the good of the character but it backfired as soon as Jud Tylor's porno resume landed on the casting agent's desk. :irked:

I thought everyone were really great actors for their roles. Danny was perfect for Hyde and he really understood all of Hyde's mannerisms and just how to say his lines. Wilmer was excellent for Fez too. I can't even count how many times I laughed at what Fez said just from the way he said it. I'll always give props to Wilmer on that front.

Ugh...I'm just going to look at that quote how you interpret it, Stephen. It says he has had more fun, not necessarily that the actual writing was his favorite. Hopefully it is like you said, with Topher being gone, the atmosphere was just better.

I'd hate to think he thought that pile of garbage was good tv. If so, he majorly loses cool points.

I kinda agree with that. I like Hyde's character. I like how he was. It's kinda like in fanfic. You wanna stay true to your character and if Hyde had been soft, it wouldn't have worked and I wouldn't love him the way I do. I think most everybody here feels the same way. We love his badass/vulnerable-inside-so-he-acts-touch-on-the-outside-ness. It's what makes him Hyde. If they had softened him, we wouldn't be so intrigued. I mean, when it came to Jackie, though, we loved the tiny dam leaks, you know, like in season 5. That's why it's our favorite season, but 6 and 7, they were giving out subtly, and were, you're right, not done in order to advance or have the characters grow. They were done for laughs. Any of Hyde's sweetness there was accidental or made for laughs. Sometimes we got lucky and sometimes we didn't. I mean, I think they had him grow in 5 and then settle into what that growth brought him in season 6 and by 7, they had moved him on to a new storyline. Unfortunately Jackie was just window-dressing for him in that, sideline. His little sidekick almost, which was cute but not enough.

I actually did like their break-up in season 7. Most people hate it, but I LOVED it, because it finally pulled out their relationship again as an issue, not just punchline. There was some actual feeling there again, even though Hyde seemed to have hardened back up by that point.

We take what we can get, you know. They all saw a whole show. 8 main characters. 8 years. We focus on one aspect and, unless youre an ED shipper, you can't do that or you're going to be disappointed. And we are. :(

BUT, if we just narrow the field again to season 5 JH, all is good again. :)

Oh, and I think Danny just meant that the acting atmosphere was fun, the set. I don't think he meant the season was the best. No way. He was probably catered to more in the last season 'cause Topher and Ashton were gone. Treated like a king.

Even though that made me laugh , it also made me sad :(

Screw that broad, man. She was insignificant. I'm telling you, even if Danny and Mila LOVED season 8, they're wrong! JH belong to us now, and they can all kiss my mother ****ing ass!!

I'm writing NR right now and these two are MINE. Jud Tyler can suck it.

AHHHHH-HAAAA!!! :P

I'm hyper right now. I think I'm gonna go down to the beach with my kids. I'll be back later. ;)

I'm out too. I'm going to spend the day with the boyfriend.

Tootles!

I agree with you. I've told you before that I really love Season 7 for the stories and not so much for the comedy. Jackie and Hyde were finally doing something and, yes Winter seemed to be out of the blue, but it was better than having nothing but recycled banter. Jackie's confession to Donna in Take It Or Leave It (about how much she really loves Hyde) is one of Mila's finest moments in all 8 seasons and there were so many of those. Jackie's heart to heart with Eric in On With The Show was another excellent, honest moment for her. Another thing I've noticed about Season 7 is how there is so much JH interaction! Every episode has significant screen time between the two and it's such an upstep from their diminished time together in Season 6. I really love Season 7 for the drama.

One thing I will give to the writers in Season 8 is that they were still very good at the drama. Whenever Kitty would tear up and vent at how angry she is at Eric for leaving, I would really get into the scene. Of course, there were some funny moments. Like Kitty calling Donna a whore every 5 minutes.

Red: Look Kitty, what happened with Eric and Donna is normal. People... people move away, they move on. Just like you did when I went of to war and you dated Roger Silver.
Kitty: You knew about that?
Red: Yeah, well, you guys probably shouldn't have gone on American Bandstand!
Kitty: Well, my situation was different: You were overseas; I had to keep my options open. Donna is a whore.

Kitty: Look Red, this egg is shaped just like Randy's head (cracks egg then throws it away) And now it's trash... just like Donna.

:lmao:

Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You popped into my head this evening. Actually, Jackie's speech at the end popped in. It struck me that it was the first time Mila was given such a serious, long-winded piece of dialogue and that her voice shook quite a bit through it (possibly due to her nervousness of doing such a serious scene for the first time) and that it really added to her character's fear that she would lose Hyde. I'm sure Danny helped her quite a bit in rehearsals because he had more experience with dramatic moments (yelling at Bud, moving out of the Formans) and Hyde is silent all throughout, leaving it to her to keep the audience enraptured.

Bye, girls. I'm leaving too.

tanith75 05-29-2007 01:41 PM

Oh Lord, are those actual lines from S8 :lmao:

I always did love Kitty :D

I'm Not Dead 05-29-2007 03:17 PM

Yep. They're from Son And Daughter (where Hyde does the chicken ) which is a decent enough episode, if I remember correctly. There's a funny circle with Jackie, Hyde, Leo and Fez and lots of yelling between Kitty and Donna. :P

tanith75 05-29-2007 03:45 PM

Yelling with Kitty and Donna is good stuff

But the rest of the stuff I don't need to see.

Donna could be such a bitch to Kitty

I'm Not Dead 05-29-2007 03:48 PM

Yeah, she could. She told Kitty that if she hadn't been so smothering towards Eric, he wouldn't have had to run away to Africa just to get away from her. Low blow, Donna. :nono:

heatherlea94 05-29-2007 03:54 PM

Hee hee....as opposed to Donna's constant "I'm way too hot for you" attitude SHE smothered Eric with.

Heh.

I'm Not Dead 05-29-2007 03:59 PM

:P Definitely, Heather.

I don't get it. Everybody liked Sam and everybody liked Randy. Granted, Jackie liked Randy's hair more than anything. But those two people wouldn't be interesting to know, regardless of who they were dating.

tanith75 05-29-2007 04:08 PM

Heather

Long time no see

PMing you

And yes, no one messes with Kitty.

It's like no one puts Baby in a corner.

It's just not done :nono:
