The funny part is, is that him stroking the desk wasn't our imagination, he was actually doing it, and they shot it up close so we could see that he was, so obviously the desk has a significant memory connected to it.

I was thinking about this too, they wanted to make what he was doing obvious, they were clearly trying to tell us there was great significance associated to the desk.

I'm still owned by the fact that he even GOT her the desk, such a thoughtful and heartfelt gesture, one of the nicest I've seen him make towards anyone.

I bet the fact that she hadn't mentioned it to him was one the things he was thinking about when he was touching the desk.

Little did he know she'd been all set to thank him (and possibly in a more than just verbal way) until she saw him in his office with that trashy blonde chick.

She looks so darn crushed when she sees the blonde woman in his office, poor Cuddy.

I personally don't believe anything went on between House and that woman, but I certainly can't blame Cuddy for assuming the worst, given House's track record.
