yeah, considering the promo I doubt that they stay that way for much longer as well...

I think in a sense Francis was going as far as he was willing to go in admitting how he feels by telling her not to give up and to stay.

I kind of wonder something about the upcoming episode synopsis... we know about the Prince of Portugal and the proposal and we know about the ex coming back and what that leads to...

so I'm wondering if maybe they're not making it be a situation where since one of they might feel put out, so to speak, that they're react rashly ( as young people sometimes do)?

I mean, if Francis is bothered by the Prince of Portugal then it might make sense for him to maybe distance himself from Mary in his mind since she might be leaving with the return of the ex. And likewise for Mary to then turn to Bash, etc... it makes for CW type of show but at the same time it kind of does make a tad bit of sense regarding how some teenage romances or even romances in general where people sometimes react, shall we say, poorly when faced with conflict and then becomes a bigger mess and bigger mess for a while.

Honestly I don't really see Francis pushing Mary away completely. Even if he is trying to protect his heart. As for Prince from Portugal's proposal, I think the only reason Mary might consider his proposal is for the sake of Scotland, and less do about love.

As for Francis ex, and Mary turning to Bash for comfort whether if its friendship or romantic. (Personally I hope its more on a friendship based) It probably has more do with the fact that Mary feels betrayed by Francis. than anything else. Especially when she started to get closer to Francis. Considering the scene in the promo most likely happens in 1x04.
