The quote in the title really annoys me. Not because it's a bad title, but because it's so accurate that it shows how the writers were basically mocking their relationship and their fans.

They knew how ridiculous the Oliver story arc was. They knew how stupid Marissa looked in taking sides with him over Ryan. What in god's name were they thinking? How could you screw up the main couple THAT much in just the first season???

Don't think their relationship ever fully recovered from the Oliver saga, at least from the perspective from some fans.

Yeah it sure didn't for many people, and it showed in how people were willing to ship him with annoying Theresa (who was literally cheating on her boyfriend with him) over Marissa near the end of season 1.
