Yeah, from time to time I put DH1 on(sometimes I just FF to the HHr stuff.) The movies in a small way made up for the last two books (I'm only a book 1-5 fan, except for a few brief moments in books 6 & 7. Not because of R/Hr or H/G, although those sure didn't help)

It's funny but book 6 used to be my favorite. It was a tie between 5 & 6 but over time 6 became less and less my favorite. I never shipped while reading the books but I did love HHr. In the movies I never paid attention to the shipper moments but for some reason HHr always stood out to me. The last one kind of solidified that.

For me the last two books just didn't feel right. I didn't like the character development(if it can be called that) and the plot was shaky. Those last two books showed me that JKR wasn't some brilliant writer, just a writer who was very good at creating fictional worlds and thinking up interesting characters, but who struggled at developing those characters and their relationship.

I can't say exactly when I started shipping HHr. It just seemed inevitable to me and when it didn't happen I was a bit surprised at how dissapointed I was. But then I started to really think about it and decided I preferred what HHr had to what RHr & HG got stuck with. Better a beautiful friendship with potential for more than a dysfunctional mess.

Shipping aside, I really enjoyed book 6 for the most part.

Book 7 though, disapointed me a bit on some accounts but I don't really care because the series as a whole is just amazing.

I always noticed that teensy bit of H/Hr potential while reading the book, and it still boggles my mind why JKR still prefered the OBHWF concept. But better keep H/Hr beautiful the way they are and untouched than two sloppy kiddie romances that have no potential for a longlasting relationship.

I do enjoy the story and all the characters(though the end wasn't my fav.) Very few books/movies/shows actually make me want to write fanfic and get involved in fandom. HP is definitely one of the few.

Yeah, the OBHWF ending just...well, the book was written for kids and that ending fits. It's IMO a childish ending. And then they all got married, had babies, and lived together happily ever after...with the lesser important characters marrying random people, having unimportant kids, and fading into the background. It was all so...cheap. The book just shouldn't have had an epilogue. It just made me feel like nothing had changed in the RHr & HG relationships, the relationship between the major and minor characters, the relationship between the different Hogwarts houses, etc. They went through all that they did and yet there was no growth or change.

The epic journey ends not with reflection and hope for change, but with marriages that don't make sense and poorly named kids.

Anyway, I'm just glad Harry & Hermione in the end had what they always had, a beautiful relationship, a lasting friendship.
