There is deeper meaning. A.L.Weber based the musical on the poems of T.S.Elliot, who was knowledgeable of bible scripture and salvation history. You should read this analysis, its really interesting https://catsmusicalmeaning.wordpress...-musical-cats/ In the end Old Deuteronomy is returned, the kingdom is restored and evil is defeated as Grizabella is chosen and is lifted up and climbs up the stairway to an eternal life in the heavyside layer. All the cats literally rejoice and sing in angelical voices, as Grizabella is lifted up, up, up to the Heaviside layer. The rejoicingis shown as the cats paws are lifted into the air and waved as in a modern Christian praise and worship service. Because of the great number of obvious parallels to the bible, I believe this symbolic message of salvation in “Cats” is no mere coincidence, but the creative plan of a great Christian writer spreading the message of salvation in a most unique manner. |

Most here know, but since there are new people, this is one of my fave songs another show I saw...one of the best.
This is from the actual Broadway show. It's not my vid. Song start around 1:00. Lyrics: Quote:

Neil Harris is a true showman, he knows what he's doing. Wonderful song, too.

I've never heard that one before, Denise. It has a catchy tune.

I don't think I realised he did theatre and could sing - I know he's been on a lot of tv shows and movies but didn't know about that - he's very talented isn't he

Yes, he's come quite a long way from his Dougie Howser days. Almost seems like a completely different person.
