She's the spawn of Mel and Mikey ..
I'm surprised so many fanfics have her so well adjusted as she's growing up One thing that really irked me when the girls were "choosing" their donor, is that Mel said that Mikey wouldn't give them any trouble .. as though he'd be a complete pushover  __________________

Same! Did she not see how Debbie reacts? As sweet and nurturing as Debbie was, she also had a tendency to be irrational. And Michael only inherited that "freak-out about every little thing" streak, from her. So, yeah... Melanie what were you thinking?

I don't actually understand why Mel would think that Brian had given them so much trouble as a parent .. he did the total opposite and gave up his parental rights to save Mel and Linz' relationship and scupper the odious Guillaume, he signed the million dollar insurance policy .. he loved Gus ..

That was something I coudn't understand either..
 Brian didn't give up his rights without a little resistance, but who would ever do that for a kid you love, but he did, and my guess is, if Mel and Linds would have approached the insurance situation a bit different, there never would have been any problem with him signing at all.. he loved Gus from the moment he was born, and to think that Michael wouldn't do the same was just wrong...__________________

So true, ladies. Melanie was judging him so harshly because of that filthy carnival he threw, but didn't analyze him enough from all angles to really get it. Little did she know how good of a father Brian actually was. When Brian made the un-selfish decision to sign his parental rights over to her so she could retain legal guardianship, it should have been clear to her then, but no. By being the so-called "Drop in dad" that he was, he allowed M/L to really raise their son the way they wanted to, but still being there enough for Gus to remember him.
But with Michael, everything was all "Me, me, me". "Jenny Rebecca is my daughter, and I... blah blah blah".  __________________
