Hey I don't mind Bangel. Or at least I'm far from minding it as much as I did during my early years
I just think their storyline had run its course post S2 and while I usually don't mind the whole pining from afar, R&J tragedies and such I just think some hardcore B/A shippers are making them into gods know what kind of "soulmates" (here's that word I dread ). But honestly I'm a Spuffy shipper and I think the same about them. I just don't see any happy outcome for both couples. What? They could go either Highlander route and make poor Buffy age and die in arms of one of them still "young" (coz come on - not that young anymore ) and still "undead" (the whole Shanshu crap always seemed kinda ridiculous to me ). Or they can make them go bad and kill each other. But I doubt there's gonna be picket fences, dogs and 2.5 kids. Both relationships were doomed right from the start. At least with Spike she can have sex

I'm all for Bangel! Re-watching it I kind of like Buffy and Spike as well, but I'm still sticking with my Bangel ship..since I've always shipped them

I think she never had sex with Spike after he got a soul too. Would he have lost it, if they have had sex or was that just part of Angel´s curse?

I think that's why I loved S2 finale so much (the fact I was bawling my eyes out aside ) - because it was the only ending a relationship such as this one could've had. The same about series finale (I'll say a few words about Spike being back on AtS later ). They might be "meant to be" couples but in no way they are "meant to last" ones and not for the reasons that opposite camps so often likes to throw around (OMG she loves A. No she loves S. But A is better, but S. is more cool blablabla). I honestly think she loved them both, but I also think that in both cases these relationships would eventually destroy her.
Obviously if one of them suddenly becomes a real boy then cheers and have a happy life But like I said that Shanshu crap annoyed the hell out of me. Mostly because I'm pretty much always annoyed when they're trying to explain something by using arguments such as "it's a prophecy", "we're champions", "you're special". That doesn't explain absolutely anything

ETA: There's a whole speculation whether they slept together one last time the night before the final battle or not. I'd go with yes simply because otherwise the whole fade-in-black effect they used would be a stretch. But no Spike can't lose his soul this way because he wasn't cursed with it. He wanted it, he fought for it and he won it. Angel's soul was forced upon Angelus. Which again brings me back to the whole Angel/Angelus duality but hey, I always overanalyse a lot

Do - That soul thing always threw me off with Spike. I mean, I know why and how he got it, so that's not the point, but what you just said about Angel being cursed with it and everything...Well, when Willow kinda restored his soul, it wasn't really a curse per se. Besides, couldn't he have just tried to get it another way? That's what I never really understood. Why did they make it work with Spike and not with Angel? I know, we can only speculate about this, but that question has been bugging me for a long time now. >.<

I really think it's basically Joss' inconsistencies in the verse Willow restored his soul twice and every time they kept changing the bases on how to do that
But hey Buffy must be one hell of a f *** (to be crude ) because all it took Angel to achieve perfect happiness that first time was sleeping with her once but the second time to be perfectly happy he had to have a reconciliation with Wes, get the girl, have a "nahnahnah she's mine not yours :p" moment with his son, kill the Beast, have a reconciliation with his son and finally sleep with Cordy See how his values shifted

I never really got the point of letting Spike have a soul like Angel. Perhaps it was to make him worthy enough to be loved by Buffy but IMO that wasn´t really necessary cause he proved that he truly loved her before that.
On the other hand perhaps Joss did it to make that prophecy come true and had it all planned from the beginning although I don´t think so.

I actually enjoyed ensouled Spike but then again I'd enjoy watching him reading yellow pages It did somewhat make sense that he would go to such lengths for a woman he loves because everything in Spike's life was always all about women. His mother, Cecily, Drusilla and finally Buffy. Just like Angelus had more of Liam's character when it came to women, Spike was always pretty much William in the way he treated his. As much as Angelus loved to overpower them, William the Bloody and Spike loved to be overpowered. He always was slightly masochist in his relationships.
Which prophecy? With so many floating around I'm confused

There was a prophecy that a vampire with a soul would help save the world/fight The First Evil and it was somehow tied to the amulet Angel gave Buffy in the last episode of the series (I think it was even mentioned in AtS too). People always assumed Angel would be that vampire but in the Buffy gave the amulet to Spike and it was him saving everybody and "dying".

Claudia - Cecily was William's 'muse' and an object of his adoration... til she broke his heart and publicly humiliated him. Later that night he was turned by Drusilla. She later became Halfrek - Anya's vengeance demon friend.
