I couldn't agree more, Daggi. It was sad to witness.
S5 is/was such a pivotal time for each of the characters of the show. Some people just do not handle changes particularly well. Brian was one of those people, and I found empathy for him during this time because he truly needed psychological counseling. Brian was being so irrational this season, but it wasn't completely unrealistic... that happening to someone. Meltdowns happen to the best of us in real life, and they're hardly ever pretty. Neither was Brian's, but his was long dragged out the entire season. He was freaking out about every little thing. All the new landscapes he and his friends were exploring clashed with his old free, adventurous, and young mindset he held so dear for so many years, was now being threatened. Suddenly everyone was growing up, becoming more refined, getting homes, leaving the club scene, etc. The fact Brian suffered a huge blow to his "forever young" mentality when he got cancer and lost a testicle months before S5 probably doesn't help either. The feeling of loneliness/isolation is real, and I guess Brian suffered the brunt of it in S5. I suppose that's why he freaked out so hard when it was revealed Justin (the closest thing to his heart) was moving into what he deemed "assimilation", AKA, Michael and Ben's new conformist life, or whatever. Guess he'd felt Michael had betrayed him by that point, but ultimately, what Michael and Ben decided to do for the well being of their lives wasn't up to him. The bomb was a literally and figuratively symbolic of a new beginning for all of them. The moments leading up to the bombing has always felt eerie to me. __________________

it is one thing to hold on to your old things and fear changes or growing older... but for Brian in my eyes it was unneccessary to act so extreme...
at leat it should have stoped the moment Justin moved back in with him after coming back, cause then he had his own life back. I understand to see his best friend becoming a family man with Ben and JR must have been hard for him with Justin beeing away and not being sure that he would come home to him. He kind of felt shut out.. and left alone with his fears and sorrows.. but for eample how he treated Michales choice of life with picking such a "special" Git for their housewarming, was kind of strange.. it looked very immature. It's ok to do things like that to your best friends for a joke, but Brian as dead serious with being so annoying to them.. __________________

That terrible gift he bought for their housewarming gift really shows his immaturity and his desperation, I agree.
Brian had some deep-rooted psychological problems (because of his childhood/upbringing) he seriously needed to correct... but he never once believed in counseling. I guess because his parents emotionally abandoned him at an early stage in life, he grew emotionally dependent on his friends. So any little change they would embark on, he would feel he was being left out in the cold... and that wasn't what was happening. Except in Mel and Lindsay's case where they clearly chose to run for the hills. __________________

I wonder why none of his freinds, not even Justin, were able to talk some sense in him...

I agree that Brian showed how immature he was by giving Michael and Ben a swing for the housewarming. Not only was he trying to embarrass Michael, but mocking their relationship.
This was a turning point, seemingly with no return for Brian. He was about to hit an all-time low. He was definitely burning his bridges, which had never happened before…especially with Michael. __________________

If Ben had never revealed to Michael how berserk Brian went at the hospital when one of the docs refused his O-negative blood to to be transfused to Michael, they might have NEVER patched things up. Because Brian had been acting so poorly towards him in prior episodes.

That is true he couldn't do it easily whatever he did... we saw that when he wanted to push away Michael on his birthdayparty

Isn't that a shame though? Nothing was easy for Brian because he fought everything. He couldn't just let good things be good…he had to mess them up.

He was so his own worst enemy sometimes.
