I love the beginning of that scene the best - when Brian is sitting casually and comfortable on the counter having a cool conversation with a life-long friend.

The first two that hopp into my mind are both scenes were both are in a personal difficult and heartbreaking situation, and you can see their closeness that only a family has. First when Michael rushed at Brians side in the hospital after the bashing, and the second one the other way round, were Brian left an important meeting at work to stand at Michaels side when Ben was in hospital. That in my eyes are "largwr than life" moments. In both cases there is nothing more in it then longtime deep friendship, knowing each other and being there for each other without the slightly bad taste coming with it thinking that Michael wants to have Brian in a different way...

Deborah, I think power struggle is exactly what that is .. Brian trying to force Mikey into doing things he doesn't want to .. but Mikey doing them anyway, because it's Brian .. and really, I don't know who comes out on top .. so to speak because Brian is still on his own and Mikey still goes home to Ben

I think the operative word you used, Debs…is "forced". That was the first time I truly noticed that Brian physically made him do what he wanted him to do. But first he made him think he was being held at gunpoint. I don't think I would have laughed it off like Mikey did.

Well, Brian was crazy with grief and self~loathing at letting Justin go .. at not being able to tell him to stay .. at not being able to say what Justin wanted to hear .. it's really not surprising that his actions were unusual

I'm still forever amused by the that while viewing old high school photos in Michael's bedroom, Ben referred to Michael as a dweeb and Brian as a spazz. I think those two descriptions fit each of them perfectly. He hit the nail on the head. Like I said, forever funny.
