Hi everyone!

We are holding the annual Holiday Fan Art competition again this year and we're happy to announce that this board has signed up to participate.

For rules, information, a list of all of the boards that are participating, and a place to ask any questions, please visit this thread on the Info Center board.

Rules:

1. The art must be holiday themed and have the board name clear anywhere on the artwork. You are free to use any technique (brushes, textures etc...). For help and tutorials, the Fan Art board is a great place to find it.
2. The artwork you submit must be exactly one of the following 3 sizes in pixels and in JPEG format; 400x300, 800x600, or 1024x768.
3. Art should include your username on the bottom left of all artwork in Verdana, font size 12.
4. You will have to include a separate 200x150px thumbnail in JPEG or PNG format (please include the whole image in your thumbnail) along with your art to be used in the voting. Please do not add a border to the thumbnail.
5. Final submissions should be a separate post in the thread marked with the words "to submit it for the competition" in red. This way, we will know that it is the final version of the art you would like to submit. It will be linked on the beginning post of the thread, updated frequently. If you do not see your art on that post a few days after you post it, please PM vale decem.
6. You may submit no more than 1 art per board. You may most certainly make more than one for each board and post it on the thread for people to see, however you may only submit one for the competition per board. There is no limit to how many boards you can submit an art for.

and like every single year, I have to ask the stupid question how it works, cause the description just is too confusing for me ..

I do post the work of art that hopefully jumps in my brain soon right here and then make a thumbnail too?

Which part are you unsure about? If you have questions feel free to ask in this thread or if you'd like you can PM me

When you make your art (which must be one of these sizes: 400x300, 800x600, or 1024x768) you then will need to make a thumbnail for it too. What program do you use to make your art? I have a version of photoshop so all I have to do is go 'image, resize...' so really easy for me but I know that not everyone has that & it can be harder to get that thumbnail. If you don't know how to make a thumbnail feel free to PM me your finished art & I can create the thumbnail for you

Once you've got your finished art & the matching thumbnail you can post it in here like this:

I work with gimp..

I just try to remember how I did it last year If I can't get it to work, I ask again. Thanks for the help

To resize using Gimp:

Click Image --> Scale Image

Then check that your sizes are in pixels (px) before resizing to 200px wide & 150px high

Once you've added in the dimensions click Scale & it should create your thumbnail for you

I love that, Daggi. Great job!

FYI...the thumbnail should link to the larger image. So...

Take your thumbnail, highlight the picture link and copy the larger image onto the thumbnail, by highlighting and copy the URL of the larger picture onto your thumbnail. This way when you click on it, it will go right to the larger image. Does that make sense? If not, let me know and I can help you more.
