Pinata: Survival Island Appreciation

Pinata: Survival Island

Official Site

Info Page at IMDB

Quote:
From Yahoo Movies:

They were just some college co-eds who wanted to collect as much underwear as possible. Now they'reat the mercy of a monstrous beast who stalks them as prey. The students originally arrive for an island adventure in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The festivities take an evil turn when, during an underwear hunt, one pair of co-eds, handcuffed together in the spirit of team, smash a pinata and unleash the evil spirits contained within. Mirroring a popular television show of the day, the youthful brigade now must learn how to survive on the island or be summarily dismissed, only the ejections on this island are slightly more permanent and aren't subject to a vote. Jaime Pressly (NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE) and Nicholas Brendon (TV's BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) are among the partygoers in peril.

Rated: R

Anyone want to say anything about this movie??

edited to fix spelling.

I have this on dvd...and all I can say is...Nick is great in it.

The monster is kind of cheesy, though...and I wanted one of the people in the movie to die a horrible, flamey death...

They showed this movie on AMC (american Movie Classics) as part of their Halloween Movie Fest. I was surprised to see it on TV, even basic cable) so soon. I wonder if it will get any more air time?

Anyway, I liked the movie, but there are some things I could have done without. For instance, the prologue... It was just way too long. they could have given us the exact same information in about one fourth of the amount of time. (And, that would have given them time to add in another scene for Nick!)

It was interesting, though, how they had a character that people wanted to see die.

Definitely. I think they put her in there, like that, on purpose. I mean, what good is a monster movie if there isn't at least one character that you want to see get attacked?

Or, is that just me?

I hope you manage to find it on EBay. it is a really good movie, and well worth watching again and again, even if it is just to see Nick again.

Our local video rental shop has this movie to rent but not to buy. Of course I've seen it a few times but I wanted it last weekend and it was all out. I guess people are watching it around here.

I got it from Amazon...I think it's good, even though you want to kill "screamy annoying girl" with a rusty knife.

Like Rob said...the set up (with the pinata thingy) is too long and overly involved.

I think that some of the actors/actresses were underused, too.
I think that there should have been a way to de-demon the pinata...that would have been cool..

I bought my from the oh-so-loverly Amazon.com, too.

I thought that is wasn't bad. I thought it was going to be horrifying from the reviews I heard. Nicky was absolutely amazing in it. So talented, so gorgeous.

I really didn't like the pinata itself. I wish it didn't morph so much. My aunt and I both agreed that it would have been a bit better if they made a spirit come after them or something.
