RF plan backfired because they had Mick on their team. That's why you never bring a person you can't trust who was Team good literally 2 seconds ago on your team.
Also, it was Snart's fault as well why the legends remembered because to quote MM, "You trusted your buddy a little too much."

Which brings me to an Eobard quote, "Do you have any idea how infuriating it is to know that Merlyn was right?"
