I always thought of Nate as Ray 2.0, and didn't understand his purpose on the team. They dropped the Historian thing after season 2. And the writers really seem to love Nate over everyone else. He was going to die in the finale (I wish he did, it would've given it more weight). But they saved him because they just couldn't get rid of him. Yet they could get rid of Ray instead.

I like Nora and think she has some interesting story to tell, but she's still a newer character. Ray is an OG character. I gave my reason why I think CL gets to stick around. I'm guessing the writers like writing funny one liners for Mick so he gets to stick around for that reason since no one else fills that role.

I completely agree with you Melissa. And I truly like Nate but he was always written as Ray 2.0 and it's not even questionable.

Only difference is that for some reason the writers/showrunners just grew to prefer Nate's story over Ray.

And it's so unfortunate.

It feels with Nora there was so much more compelling story to tell but she was stuck with the Time Bureau and than fairy godmother last season...

^ They did and I blame it on the writers TB obsession... and it's still a struggle to figure out why Gary and Mona were so favorable in the writers room.
