I loved the first few seasons when they were friends.

The first time I watched the series I loathed Lex and totally threw all my hate at him but after re-watching the show again some of it really is a direct result of Clark lying to him and only using him when he needs him

you sound like myself and my co-mod Ingrid... when I was younger although I liked Lex, I didn't like a lot of stuff that he did and it made me so upset with the decisions he made however, when I NOW re-watch, I clearly see that the main problem is Clark.

All of this never would've happened if Clark was honest with Lex... Lex obsession to find out the truth turned him darker and darker... sadly his obsession was stronger and bigger than any love he felt for anyone and I feel if Lex found out in Season 2, he would have accepted Clark and even protected him and it would've brought them even closer and certain things that happened in the later part of the series never would've happened...

It's sad to think that all of this could have been avoided if Clark had just been honest with Lex

I really believe that Lex would have accepted Clark's secret and protected him, it was all the lying that made it so much worse

Agree. I know they were destined to become enemies but if you remove that perspective from your mind. You're right. Everything would've been so much better if Clark was just honest with Lex.

Lex was so dark because of his desire and need to tell the truth, he always felt he was getting betrayed or lied to by everyone in his life so, if Clark was honest I feel that Lex would've been shocked and surprised yet thankful that for the first time in his life someone actually trusted him.

I mean even when he was crazy, he accepted Clark's secret and didn't want anyone to hurt him...
I just wish that Clark told Lex before season 4... once Season 4 hit, I feel it was just over.

No point in telling him anymore...

I agree he should have been honest with Lex early on

After a while Lex did become obsessed and it wouldn't have made a difference.
