I love the episode and you had to meet Van... spoiler alert, you'll see him again so I felt it would be wise for you to have the introduction to him and again this is actually one of my favorite episodes of the season. I just can't stand Clark in the episode.

I would relate more to Clark if he showed even 1% of compassion for Lana's feelings here.

Well, in the comics, Clark never had to deal with this stuff as a teen. Even Superboy was never put in this situation.
