[Bruce Wayne's Bentley pulls up to the curb in front of the Talon. Alfred Pennyworth opens the door and assists Chloe out of the car as Bruce exits the car behind her]

Bruce: "Well, here we are, safe and sound. Thanks for a lovely evening, Chloe. And, for the interview."
Chloe: "Thank me? I'm the one who needs to thank you for saving my life back there. I've never seen a teenage billionaire who was also part ninja."

Bruce: "Well, Gotham is a rough town. It used to be the center of mob activity in the 1920s before New York. And because of Arkham, it became a dumping ground for every lunatic and psychopath that other cities didn't want to deal with."

Chloe: [smiles]"Well, have you ever thought of relocating to Metropolis? It's a much nicer city, and it could use a guy like you."
Bruce: [grins] "It's a tempting offer, but no. My place is in Gotham. My father tried to use his wealth and influence to make a difference there, and I have to finish the work he started."

Chloe: "Wow, a billionaire with a conscience. It's not exactly what I'm used to."
Bruce: "Not all of us are like Lionel Luthor."

Chloe: "Well... I hope you find time to visit us again, someday."
Bruce: "Oh, I definitely will."

Chloe: "So..." [pauses]
Bruce: "Is this the awkward silence before the guy is supposed to kiss the girl?"

Chloe: [smiles] "I guess so, typically. I'll understand if you don't, though."
Bruce: "Chloe... I can't think of any guy who wouldn't want to right now. But... there's a reason why I'm not. It's because I know you're in love with Clark. And, believe it or not, he feels the same way about you, but the boy scout is too uptight to admit it."

Chloe: "How do you...?"
Bruce: "I see the way Clark is with you. How his eyes linger on you when you're with him, and how he tenses up whenever someone like me is around you. It shows a combination of intimacy, attraction, and territoriality. Or in layman's terms, he gets hella jealous whenever another man shows interest in you."

Chloe: "How exactly did you figure all this out?"
Bruce: "I'm kind of a detective. It's what I do. I notice things that others don't."

[Chloe lowers her head and pauses]
Bruce: "Chloe, can I give you some advice? Men are stupid, even ones from Krypton. After all, if they weren't they'd still be around. I know that you feel like giving up because you think that Clark will always be hung up on Lana. But... always is a very long time, and Clark has his whole life ahead of him. I don't know where that will lead him, but I have the feeling it won't be to her."

[Chloe looks on intently]
Bruce: "There's the girl you fall in love with from a distance, and then there's the girl you fall in love with up close. The irony is, the one close to you is the one that's hardest to see, even with X-Ray vision."

Chloe: "You mean, like you and Selina?"
Bruce: [long pause] "Me and Selina?"

Chloe: "You're not the only one with powers of observation. I'm a reporter. I notice things that others don't."
Bruce: "Well... Selina and I..."

Chloe: Wait, let me guess... you're just friends, right? I've heard that one a lot. That's why she stayed at your house, because she was helping you and Detective Gordon with the investigation into your parents' murder. That's why you stayed with her, because she took you in when you were out on the streets learning how to be a criminal. I do my research."
Bruce: "It's... a bit more complicated than that, but point taken. Look, don't wait for Clark to make the first move. You might end up being the one that saves him."

[Bruce leans forward and kisses Chloe on the cheek]
Bruce: "Goodnight, Chloe. Stay safe."
Chloe: "Goodnight, Bruce."

Bruce: "Let's go Alfred."
[Alfred opens the door for Bruce]
Alfred: "Good evening, Ms. Sullivan."

[The Bentley drives away as Chloe watches. She turns and enters The Talon]

Alfred: "You know, Master Bruce, if you intend to start playing matchmaker you might consider writing a column, or perhaps one of those blogs."
Bruce: "I was just helping out a friend, Alfred."

Alfred: "Ah, so Master Clark is your friend, now?
Bruce: "What? I didn't say that."

Alfred: "I believe you just did, sir."
Bruce: "No, I was... no! That's not what I meant. I was talking about Chloe. She's my friend."

Alfred: "I see. And this has nothing whatsoever to do with you projecting your feelings for Ms. Kyle onto Ms. Sullivan, and relating to Master Kent's situation?"
Bruce: "What? No... absolutely not. Look, Alfred... Clark is a decent guy. But... he's just... he's such a..."

Alfred: "What?"
Bruce: "Dweeb!" [pauses and exhales] "But, he's also a good man, and I respect him. His heart is in the right place, if nothing else. And... he deserves better."

Alfred: "I know. I like him too."
Bruce: [pauses and stares out of the window] "You know... I grew up around prep school kids, with trust funds and country club parents. [pauses] A farm boy. Go figure."

Alfred: "You know, Master Bruce, it's been my experience that we don't often choose the friends we make in life; life chooses them for us. I left the service and a career in the theater to come work for your father. I ended up meeting one of the best friends, and one of the best men, I've ever known."

[camera focus on Bruce as he stares out the window of the Bentley]
[outside shot of the Bentley driving off into the night]




Bruce: "Nice view. I mean, it's not like my apartment balcony at the Wayne Tower, but... it has a nice Norman Rockwell appeal to it."
Clark: "You have an apartment?"

Bruce: "Well... it was my dad's; just in case he ever had to stay overnight in the city."
Clark: "Bruce... thanks for helping out. It means a lot."

Bruce: "Don't mention it. Wayne Enterprises has to maintain its reputation as a contributor to rural communities, to show we're not all like Luthorcorp.
Clark: "That's not it. You may not admit it, but despite our differences we both believe in the same things. And you don't even have any powers! You're an ordinary human, but you put your life on the line for others, knowing it can get you killed. If our roles were reversed, I don't know if I could ever be that brave."

Bruce: [grins] "Was that a compliment? From you?"
Clark: [grins] "I'm not as mistrusting of big corporations as my father."

Bruce: "Yeah, about that. [pauses] Clark? I know that Lex Luthor is your friend, and you want to believe in him. But... I did know him back when we were kids in prep school, and Lex is... complicated."
Clark: [lowers head]

Bruce: "Look, just be smart, okay? Never let your guard down."
Clark: "So... are you leaving for Gotham?"

Bruce: "Yeah, I'm flying out tomorrow... on a plane." [grins]
Clark: [smiles]

Bruce: "Can you say goodbye to Chloe for me?"
Clark: "I thought... well, that you'd be saying goodbye in person."

Bruce: [smiles] "Clark, do you know why I asked Chloe out on a date?
Clark: [looks at Bruce]

Bruce: "Three reasons. One, She's a beautiful, intelligent, funny, charming young woman that any man would be lucky to spend time with. Two, she's a talented reporter with great instincts, whom I knew would conduct a fair and honest interview. And three... because I wanted to see how you'd react."
Clark: [bewildered look] "How did I react?"

Bruce: "Exactly how I thought you would. Did you know that, on average, people make eye contact for approximately three to five seconds during casual conversation? Seven seconds maximum for one-on-one conversation. Anything longer than that implies intimacy, trust, and attraction. [pauses] I've seen you gaze at Chloe for ten to twelve seconds at a time."
Clark: [long pause]

Bruce: "You know, for a guy who's faster than a speeding bullet, you can be really slow sometimes, farm boy. Like your thing with flying; sometimes you just need a little push."
Clark: [exhales] "Uhhh... do you... ever stop playing the detective?"

Bruce: "I don't know, do you ever stop playing the boy scout?
Clark: [chuckles]

Bruce: "Oh, I forgot. I have a going away present for you." [walks in front of Clark, facing the window]
Clark: "What present?"

Bruce: "This."
[Bruce pushes Clark out of the window. Clark lets out a scream and falls to the ground with a thud; shakes his head]
Bruce: [looks up and smiles] "Still can't fly."
