Gringotts is a bank. It's where the trio went to in DH and left riding a dragon. Remember the scene where Hermione used a Polyjuice Potion to be Bellatrix? They needed to get to Gringotts and get inside Bellatrix' vault and find the Hufflepuff cup and the Sword of Gryffindor which are both a Horcrux. They're both located inside Bellatrix' vault.

It's a huge bank with a dragon guarding the vaults (although more like a prisoner really). I really like that scene where the trio escapes Gringotts riding that dragon.
