Yeah, Newt's suitcase indeed or a magizoologist that can handle such a creature but regular no maj or wizarding folk can't have them as pets because they're very hard to train/domesticate from the looks of it.

Plus I think a magizoologist is probably a wizard term for veterinarian?

He seems to have some medical knowledge, but I think he's not strictly a veterinarian.
Now I'm wondering if every big city has a wizard veterinarian for owls, toads, rats, kneazles and other magical pets. That would be cute, Hermione bringing her cat for vaccination... |

I see Newt taking more of an active role in the next movie. He was reluctant before to go on any mission that the ministry or Dumbledore requested. But now that he’s chosen a side I see him being more committed. Not as an Auror. But maybe an agent for Dumbledore.
