It's good that Harry was still too young to remember all of that but it's so heartbreaking to see that all from Snape's POV.

And it was too late when Snape arrived. He was so devastated and Alan did a great job with really nailing Snape's emotions in that scene.

Good question. I think he's reconciled the fact that Lily is dead and has projected that image he has of Lily through Harry so while he despises him because he reminds him of James, he didn't outright hurt Harry physically and in the end, even protected him by sending that Patronus. He did it all for Lily and not necessarily for Harry but Harry is still protected no matter Snape's motivation is.

The only way he can bring the dead back is if he has the Resurrection Stone but even that isn't a guarantee that the dead will live forever. Albus Dumbledore tried it with his dead sister Ariana. It didn't work because he forgot that the ring was a Horcrux by the time he used it.
