I do wonder if the other Gryffindor students know that Remus is a werewolf? Maybe they do? I mean Snape knows and he's from Slytherin.

Poor Remus. He only wanted to teach but because he's a werewolf, the parents of the students don't want him to teach which is understandable.

Yes all understandable and Dumbledore has no choice but to dismiss him. At least Harry was able to meet Remus and find out the truth about Sirius that time.
