Yes, and that's why he saved him in DH. Bellatrix aimed a dagger that was meant to be for Harry but instead it killed Dobby. So he saved Harry's life because he was forever thankful to him for freeing him.
 Elves aren't bad but wizarding and pure-blood families use them as slaves. __________________

I think some of them are because of the upbringing or how they were 'raised' in a family so to speak like Kreacher is mean because the Blacks don't treat him well. Even Sirius doesn't seem to be too keen with elves.

Dobby is kinder than Kreacher. Although he was under the Malfoys who aren't keen of elves either, perhaps he's just one of those really good elves.

He's grown a beard. Though I think in Star Trek, his character doesn't have a beard? But it's hiatus so he's not shooting.
