I always wanted to know about Dumbledore's past. If he ever loved, so I was glad Rowling said he did, but it was tragic.

Same here. Dumbledore's past was always a bit blurry, so I'm glad we got that small detail to his back story, but it doesn't change anything about him. He's the same guy we read in the book really. People are just..gah.

He's one of my favourite characters too. He has a wicked sense of humour and I love that.

And he was rightfully full of himself. And he can get away with it.

^ Oh, he is. He likes to tell Harry how clever he is. But I think it's his way of telling him that sometimes genius man like him could make mistake too.

True that . He deserves it. And besides, him claiming that he's clever is really just a fact being stated.

Has anyone ever felt like calling DD Albus? To me it feels a bit strange.

In movie PS/SS, McGonagall did call DD Albus when he first came to Privet Drive to wait for Hagrid. But I didn't think she call him that again. Now when I think of Albus, I think of Harry & Ginny's son, Albus Severus Potter, instead of DD. He'll always be Dumbledore for me.

Same here . But even before Al it just felt strange to call him that. He's Dumbledore. He'll just always be

Found this photo of a young Richard Harris

He was a good looking man in his prime. Sadly I cam having trouble finding a picture of a young Michael Gambon, who spent much of his early career on stage. I'll see if I can find something from the 1970's.

Harris was also a poet and a singer, and has published his works and released several albums.

He was sure dashing in his prime.

I loved the little insight that Minerva McGonagall used his first name. Because she knew him longer than anyone else at Hogwarts (besides the ghosts and portraits) she earned that right of friendship.

Well I thought the ladies on the board would like to see Richard Harris as a young man. Just my scheme to get more love for Dumbledore.

I think the photo was taken around 1962. He was one of the great actors who respected the art, and was not elitist about it. He didn't like Tom Cruise for that reason, and he respected a variety of actors such as Marlon Brando, Sean Penn and Mickey Rourke who was a close friend of his. He wasn't a fan if Ian McKellen and Kenneth Branagh, one of the reasons the former didn't accept the role of Dumbledore after Harris's passing. Despite his reputation of being critical, and somewhat of an ass, he was very good around the children. Unlike Robbie Coltrane and Michael Gambon!

I think the one thing that was established in the first chapter, was that Dumbledore was Minerva's superior. We weren't sure in what manner, and we later assumed he was Headmaster and she was Deputy Headmistress, but he was also her boss in The Order of the Phoenix. I love the idea of a band of ragtag Wizards such as Moody, Sirius, Kingsley, James, the Prewett brothers, ect battling Death Eaters wherever they happen to be.

Sometimes it's hard to think that Richard Harris was once a young man too.

And Dumbledore leading the band.

Yeah, we're so use to seeing him old. He was only 72 when he passed, he could have gone on for 10 more years. Even 20 or 30.
