Well, we don't know HOW Hermione managed it all year, do we? We don't know if she saw herself in the library studying when she went back and explained. Do we?

*shrug*

Well, Hermione would not have need to explain to herself how but should would need to explain why she and Harry used it. If she ever saw herself during the year when studying she would not have needed to explain how or why.

She would need to explain both to Harry.

She might have to explain to harry, but i don't think he would knock himself out, i think she could get to him before he did anything stupid.

Would there be some kind of paradox if Hermione were to see herself in the past? Like in those sci-fi movies, where a disturbance in the time line is created when someone travels in time and sees themselves *shrug*

Crossbow 10-02-2004 01:53 PM

Nah. A paradox would be if time-turning Hermione went back to bevore the start of the term and told non-time-turning Hermione not to use a time turner in the first place.

Dr. Willis and Dr. Shuster.

There's a paradox!!

*snort*

I don't think paradox was exactly the word I was thinking of, but I couldn't think of a word to explain it. So I'll just explain the whole idea. Maybe she avoided herself when she went back and forth in time so that she didn't give away future happenings. So that her past self wasn't tempted to change anything that had happened in the future. Changing even one small event in the future could have drastic far-reacing effects. It might have no effect but then again it might have a huge effect. Does that make any sense?:look:

Well, as Douglas Adams said whien writing about this exact issue, "No one ever learned anything by calling himself on the phone."

Actually, my Psychology professor disagreed with that... Hmm.

Also Be Er Mudblud?

*shrug* Doesn't make sense. Plus, I think she'd spell it properly...

But that's just me.

Yes, and if she's wise she will only do it once, because it's a cheap trick.

Yeah, I agree that she's not likely to do the anagram thing again. Been there done that. Just like she's not likely to use the thing spelled backwards bit again like she did with the Mirror of Erised. She doesn't want people to figure everything out by keeping doing the same things over and over again *shrug*

OK, am I the only one who didn't realize Erised is "desire" spelled backwards until just now? I was actually in the middle of thinking "what thing spelled backwards bit?" when I figured it out.

So JKR said on her site under FAQ that "Remeber my last" was refering to Dumbledore's last letter to Petunia (alone) when he left Harry with them. DD used the phrase "my last" and not "my letter" because he had written to her prior to that letter.

Why do you think that DD wrote to Petunia before then. And why do you think he did not write to her for 14 years after?

I never did figure it out myself - someone else had to point it out to me! I'm not the kind of person who really goes looking for hidden meanings; you have to pretty much smack me over the head with them. Took me like 2 years to notice that "Sirius" is also the name of the dog star.

First, we don't know if he last wrote or spoke to her. Assuming the last contact they had was 14 years ago, that would have been the letter he left with Harry when he left him on their doorstep, which explained why he had to stay there. That said, we have absolutely no reason to think he had no contact with her after that. But if he didn't, it was probably because she hates wizards so much.
