HP never had any LGBTQ relationships until JKR said Dumbledore was gay. I don't even know if that was her plan from the start but the way she said it was like "Didn't you all know?" I always thought Dumbledore wasn't one of those who wanted a relationship to make himself happy or was too busy to bother with that.

Yeah, same here.. I felt like I tho that he was too busy to focus on himself, but I don't get the vibe that he was gay in the book and stuff like that..

I also found it too in your nose of JKR to say that we didn't know Dumbledore was gay like she's been dropping hints of it throughout the books. No she did not and HP never really had any LGBTQ representation.

But also Dumbledore fell in love with the wrong person, his friend Grindelwald who most likely only used his affection for his personal gain. So I think by the time HP's time came, he never actively wanted to be in a relationship because of what happened with Grindelwald.
