I can't remember if that Mirror of Erised scene was in the trailer but the part with their younger selves wasn't and was only shown in the movie. I think in the trailer we only see Dumbledore looking at the mirror and they cut the scene quickly.

Yes definitely it wasn't her decision but I did single her out because she was the one who announced it. Normally they release this info to the media but JKR announced it at some event (I keep forgetting if this was a media event for part 1) and it caught all 4 leads off guard because I think they only signed to do 3 movies at that time.

She does have right to announce it and it was probably meant to be a surprise but the cast was taken off guard so I think they didn't know about it too. I think they were blindsided by the announcement.
