Yeah plus it was dark so I guess the flash was a bit much. There was a storm and there was lightning but it didn't help because the scene was so dark.

Thanks! Too bad we got very little of the creature but damn, Newt was awesome in that scene if he knew how to tame it. That only means he's encountered the creature before.

I wonder if he's encountered almost all of the magical creatures in the wizarding world? He seems to know how to tame all of them but he is a magizoologist after all and they study all kinds of creatures so they should know how they behave and to tame/domesticate them.

Yes Newt and you're right. He looks very well travelled if he's able to encounter so many creatures and be able to train or know how to tame them.
