We know that he's probably given away because he's an Obscurus and that all this time he was trying to communicate with Aberforth so they can be together again. But it would take Dumbledore for that reunion to happen because as is, I don't think Aberforth can look for Credence on his own.

Yep they didn't specify or talk about that in the movie. Just that Credence was given away to Mary Lou who keeps unwanted children with her.

At the same time, he was forbidden to use magic with Mary Lou as well so the more he repressed it, the more stronger and dangerous Credence became.

I just don't know when Credence was given away? As a baby or as a child? Cause I do think even early on, an Obscurus already manifests itself especially when it's repressed.

And I stand corrected, Petra. Credence is an illegitimate child of Abeforth but we don't know if it was Aberforth's idea to give him away or the woman he slept with.

I'm just not sure if Credence was given away when he was still a baby or when he was a bit older.
