It's actually a dragon. I thought it was just a large bird.

The big wing span makes it dragon-like.

Like you, I thought it was a large bird. It didn't look like a dragon until it spread it's wings.

IKR? When it's not spreading it's wings and is just in it's normal size, it actually looks like a bird.

Maybe it's half-bird and half-dragon? It is a magical creature so it could be both.
