He was protective of her & it wasn't just b/c she was Buffy's sister.

Spike and Dawn were so nice in S5. It showed he had humanity beyond caring about Buffy.

I love the quote he talks about how you have to let char. go where they want & that's how we got Spike/Buffy.

Nothing about them ever was forced.
