Seasons 1 and 4 are where Buffy’s relationships are not a main priority, and interestingly enough, those seasons are often called the weaker ones (although…Season’s 1 budget and experimentation was probably also a factor). Season 5 is the only season where it is family themed. It’s too bad they didn’t stick with this theme, because Joss kept hammering over our head that Buffy is always alone and must do things by herself. The eventual loss of the closeness Buffy had with the Scoobies got to the point where I was only interested in Buffy and Spike by the end of Season 7. It’s really too bad, because they could have had Buffy gaining back that close bond with her friends that she had lost over the years, instead of realizing in the very last episode that she didn’t have to be alone (which…hadn’t we already gone over that?)

When do fans say Buffy wasn't about a her love life?

Fans are the one obsessed with it.

That's all Joss from what I can tell.

Buffy & the Scoobies growing apart is actually realistic though.

Joss trying to quickly make them best friends again in the finale didn't ring true at all.

They needed more time & not have to worry about the end of the world.

I guess they got this according somewhat to the Comics eventually.

IDEK, man. But I remember an ~outraged cry~ from some select members of the fandom after the 20th reunion because it was ~based around Buffy's love life too strongly~ and people felt BTVS was more than that. Some people hated that BA & SB even got separate covers.

Bitter b/c their other ships didn't get separate covers.

I do think BTVS was a lot more than Buffy's love life.

It does annoy me that Spuffy VS Bangel is still such a huge thing but that's just the way shipping is.

Same. But I was over the moon about the reunion. I wasn't about to complain.

Also, I re-watch seasons and episodes that have nothing to do with my ship all the time. I am here first and foremost for the characters (Esp Buffy Summers.)

I can't say that. I'm here for Spuffy now & haven't rewatched the old episodes in years.

Most holiday art will be posted on SMG/JM thread. Lots of it are more for that thread.
