Buffy is worried she hurt him.  From shooting script Tender beat between the two of them as they look at each other.     Spike exhales. Buffy looks down at him. He's clenching his jaw. He's clearly in some pain, but trying very hard not to show it. BUFFY (cont'd) You okay? She lowers the stake. He shifts her weight to the side and sits up a little. SPIKE Fine. Couple'a ribs still ain't quite set right since... (pause) I'm fine. BUFFY Let me see. SPIKE No, it's -- She puts her hand up under his shirt, feels along his rib cage. She looks at him with genuine concern -- his injury's worse than he's letting on. Tender beat between the two of them as they look at each other. BUFFY Spike -- SPIKE I'm okay, Buffy. He reaches down, grabs her hand. He takes it away from his rib cage but continues holding it. SPIKE (cont'd) I'm gonna be okay. MOLLY So we're supposed to like make out with him or something? RONA That's hot. __________________

 Concerned - Basically the same as worried. BUFFY Spike... what happened... He moves a step away, pulling his unbuttoned shirt closed. Concerned , Buffy comes to him and gently opens his shirt. BUFFY (cont'd) (quietly) What did you do...? ANGLE: SPIKE'S TORSO Is covered in cuts, some new, some healed for months. He begins to weep. SPIKE I tried... I tried to cut it out... __________________

It's affectionate. You don't hit your mortal enemy playfully. SPIKE Can—can we rest now? Buffy...can we rest? A close-up of Buffy's face shows that she is crying now. From where she stands, Spike's exhausted body hanging limply on the cross resembles Jesus (except the view is of Spike's back). __________________

SPIKE You hear all that noise? Buffy nods. BUFFY Just enough to make me feel crappy. SPIKE You know watcher-boy doesn't mean anything by it. BUFFY I guess. Everyone's all ... they all care. They all care so much, it makes it all harder. SPIKE Not sure I followed 'round that bend, love. BUFFY I don't know. I just feel like, like I'm spending all my time trying to be okay, so no one'll worry. It's exhausting, and then I get all ... (can't find the words) SPIKE ... and that makes 'em worry even more. Buffy nods, relieved to be understood without words. SPIKE (cont'd) Want me to take 'em out? Give me a hell of a headache, but I could probably thin the herd a little. He smiles, slyly -- joking. Buffy can't quite suppress a smile of her own. That pleases Spike. SPIKE (cont'd) Knew I could get a grin. __________________
