I can just see that as being their thinking. Don't care about the polar bears dying, or any other endangered species

Yeah it does make it easier to give up you life to a cause you believe in doesn't it?

But it also makes it easier to disregard the people you don't realize you are damaging along the way.

Yeah. Religion is very divisive. Mekas people respect less the others, who do not share their faith. Especially those of a rivalling faith. they become the enemy, which must be fought. (but truthfully, very few wars start directly from religion, It seems to just identify the enemy, and make the war "holy")

Or the lending of legitimacy to all the "religious wars" of recent times. Prtestants against Catholics in Nothern Ireland, Sunni vs Shia in the Gulfarea of the middle east, (and these are even just branches of the sam religions! Shows all the more the point that it may not be religious differences in it self that causes war, but just makes a fine label to define the enemy) And of course the wars between peole of actually different religions, like the hindus and muslims of india
