Gossip Girl Universe #1: Smash and everything that's happening in the GG world
Gossip Girl extended universe thread This thread can look weird  It's the place to talk about all the other shows and characters that happen to exist in the same GG universe, like Smash for example, which Safran confirmed is the same universe as GG (I'm pretty sure also other Safran's shows exist as well).   [Linda the stage manager from Smash in the 1x03 of GG] So do you want to talk about what Karen or Ivy are possibly doing when on a few blocks away Zoya is having dinner with Julien? Or if the new musical Gideon is producing could star Ana or Jimmy? Or if any other tv show character makes a cameo in an episode of GG? This is the place to do it  __________________

Weird because we're not like Arrow, we don't have a "universe", it's just an OG GG and a new one, plus it's not like a constant crossover or hint at something not GG related
Smash is there only because Safran was the showrunner of S2 and anyway for most people Linda in ep 3 was just another unknown character __________________

I think you've got a different understanding of universe to me then sounds it. A show universe to me is just shows which are known to exist in the same world. They don't have to interact or can just have minimal ones. There is no need for big crossovers, especially not like the ones Arrowverse did. NCIS was a spinoff from JAG which means that all the NCIS shows are in the same universe as JAG even if the characters from JAG don't appear on them. NCIS LA had a character appear in Scorpion which means that Scorpion also appears in the same universe even if that one off appearance in S1 of Scorpion was all that occurred. (Maybe I just like bringing Kat into my universes
 ) I could go on about that universe... as there's about 11 shows which all exist within the one universeSo? We can take it still & appreciate it. As Smash fans we know she's far more than just that. That's a treat for people like us  __________________

But then like every show that's set in the contemporary years can be part of the GG universe
like even Nikita, like can you imagine Roger Menzies getting spied by Division Personally I still need to see at least an evidence of a link, that can be even just a mention. Oh I think that's one of my favorite parts of GG  and probably the only aspect I like of having had Safran as a showrunner of both, since as you know I didn't like his vision of that show.__________________

I wouldn't go that far. Shows within a universe have connections to each other still. As you said there needs evidence of that link. Otherwise it is just someone's wishful thinking.
He has some interesting visions, yes at least something nice can come from his take over of S2 of SMASH__________________

OH YES! Or him saying like "Jimmy Collins sent me the new material and it's very good, I'm going to the rehearsal tomorrow" and I'd be like
 even though I don't like Jimmy as a character Or like him hanging up a phone call and saying "Sorry, it was Derek Wills the director" although I'm not sure Safran would like to hear comments after about the "me too" director being mentioned again. Now a funny thing, a whisful thinking but still in episode 3 Gideon mentiones Etro, a fashion brand, while he's about to go out for dinner with Roy, before Max kicks him out of home for the party. Well, my mind now goes to Max showing him pictures of Maneskin dressed in Etro and telling him they look great and he should buy something Maneskin used to always wear Etro in the early days after ESC (they wore Etro at ESC too), while now they only wear Gucci. But still __________________

I guess now that the show has been canceled for 9 years, we're just happy for anything we get. I would even cheer if I saw Jerry
you know, anything to know the characters are still out there and thriving, more or less (one that I doubt we could see is Nick, because now he's more known as Ridge of Bold and the Beautiful than his Smash character).Do you remember if Jimmy was supposed to write a musical with Julia? Or if they ever mentioned that? True, if it's just a mention, so you don't need the character to appear, you can literally do anything. Oh, you can bet about it __________________

Although if there is going to be Jerry I really need Eileen to come too to throw a drink at him  (although him doing something & having one of the GG characters do that could also be fun)I don't know. I don't think so but they probably would've gone that way... once Jimmy was released Mentions are amazing for that __________________

It seems Audrey is great at throwing drinks, but I'd love Monet to do it too
although maybe she'd be on his side, I can see her mother being Jerry's friend.I think of it because Julia always felt close to Kyle's work and she knew Jimmy was talented as well, so I can see her working with him at one musical at least, especially since at the end of Smash her and Tom decide to take a break from each other, am I right? The Gatsby musical was supposed to become a movie in S3, so it would have been someting else. Produced by Gideon By the way the reason why Jimmy goes to jail reminded me the one Serena in GG believed she was going to too. __________________

She does seem the type to be on Jerry's side. Monet I don't know. She is more in it for herself.

I can even see Ellis working for Camille
she'd appreciate his ways for sure.I guess that would be a break that could let them write something new on their own, so it would be some years? Tom wanted also to be more a director. Maybe Julia wrote a new musical with Jimmy (because Jimmy needs a book writer, he's just a song writer) and then maybe go back with Tom. Jimmy could also find another partner, after her. I agree. __________________
