Emily is definitely the third Gilmore Girl. Kelly Bishop is an outstanding actress, and her performance in every single episode she's in is just great.

That’s unimaginable. The show without Emily, except they make a show only with Emily and Richard. Yeah, a lot of screentime for them and maybe a little bit for Lorelai and Rory.

And the funny thing is.. the shippers got their wishes in season 6,no FND,very little Emily or Emily/Lorelai interaction, plenty of Lorelai/Luke , Rory/Logan cra… err storyline... and then the same people said it they missed the family stuff

Me neither, to me the two mother-daughter stories are,or rather were the core of the this show.No anymore
IMO trying to develop the Emily Lorelai relationship would be much more interesting and fresh than recycling all the TV soap plots we´ve gotten the last couple of years.

It seems to me that the posters on the ST who suggest getting rid of Emily forget the title of the show is "Gilmore Girls" and Emily is the 3rd Gilmore Girl.
The main premise of the show was the relationships b/w Emily and Lorelai, Lorelai and Rory and Emily and Rory.
The show has definitely gotten away from that!

Nope, just that Emily had probably to think how she experienced first hand that making a marriage work isn't an easy thing to do and it needs compromises on both sides.

Yeah, well I was to busy defending Emily on the ST, so no time to tweak the first post, maybe next time.

I think so because no one is perfect...well except for me and you.

I was also concerned about the look on her face when she said "Marriage isn't about being happy all the time and often it's not about being happy at all". She looked so sad when she said that because it was almost as if something had happened between her and Richard. Maybe she hasn't forgiven him for the frivolous and shallow comment and we'll get resolution to that in 7.13. Wishful thinking, I know.

ETA-Misread the post. I think she knows she belongs with Richard and they are made for each other but I don't think she thinks he's perfect.

However,did they really want Emily out? I didn't know it....at that time I was just a shy lurker! I'm totally for a show with REconcilers only...with phone calls,even an entire ep of phone calls,flashbacks,visits to Hopie,frivolous DAR parties and a lot of kisses! However,the spin-off "Emily equity" that Riska posted some time ago was great,too...Emily on Broadway...realistic,isn't it?
BTW,when did Emily say that line? "You're not perfect for each other"?
