Exactly! They purposely brought him in at that very moment just to make Jess look good even though it totally contradicts the rest of the season. All those times through out the whole first half of S6 where Rory clearly showed a longing for both school and her mom were totally ignored to make Jess look "good" and like those 2 years away actually showed he progressed and changed, yet in the same episode, they showed that he was no different then he was 2 years ago. His appearence in 6x08 was totally pointless. All it did was take the spotlight off of Rory and the fact that she finally steered her life in the right direction BY HERSELF and to show that Jess will never change.

Now in the conversation we had before I am not naive I knew that ASP liked Jess. I knew that if Milo had agreed to be in more episodes Amy would have done more with R/J it makes me sick but I am a realist. However, I don't think she would have made it Lit in the end given how they were portrayed S3 spin off or no spin off

EW! That's a terrible idea. It's so weird that Amy thought Jess and Rory were so great together when Jess always treated her like dirt. I could have lived the Rory/Jess thing if had actually treated her well. But no, we got stuck with the crap they put on screen and him ruining every scene he's in. I never tire of watching Luke push him in the lake. I can stop in at the diner for Danish Day every day if he'd do that!

I agree, it's a terrible idea... Plus, I think it's strange that since Amy set up an OBVIOUS L/L ending from S1, that if she had both couples together R/J would kind of be cousins... I know they wouldn't technically be related but I don't like the concept. Even when they kissed in S6 when L/L were engaged it feels odd because they were "soon to be" cousins at that time. Although I think she liked both couples, I think LL had way more of a "meant to be" vibe than RJ thank God.

And just to clarify, that is not the reason I dislike them. I dislike them because they were depressing, made each other miserable and made no sense together. (Seriously, if Jess is her "soulmate" because he likes to read the same books she does, then she must have MILLIONS of soulmates out there). I guess that means because I like to sing, that any guy that likes singing is "the one" for me. Glad to know there's so much love in the air.

If Jess is Rory's soulmate then I don't want to find mine, this was actually an old anti C/L title but i beleive it applies to R/J. ASP never said Jess was Rory's soulmate I don't even think she said any guy was Rory or Lorelai's soulmate. Mike Aussielo did and the guy has said some crazy things that I take whatver he said with a grain of salt.
I know that writers might have tried to paint Jess as what Amy said the "Hero" but what they showed didn't really translate well. If there was anyone that triggered it was Emily by driving Rory crazy. I mean it was Emily's arguement in 6.09 at the breakfest table that caused her to move out. I mean she still wanted to work partime at the DAR even though Jess it wasen't her, so I really can't see Jess as the guy who brought her back no matter what ASP tried to convey or said.
Plus there were no anvils that R/J were going to be long term. If anything there were anvils against them Max telling Lorelai she will move on when they ran into together at the drug store, and Lor telling Rory that she will have more boyfriends at Thanksgiving

That's WHAT confuses/angers me.

We hear one thing about Jess, but get another on screen. Like, show me IN the show how great he is, don't tell me and have him be a jerk all the time. Just because he's a jerk to people he "hates" doesn't make it alright! Like if I go around punching people I don't like it makes it okay?

Plus, he was a jerk to Rory most of the time too.

I mean, there are two versions of Jess. They one everyone talks about (including the writers), and the one on the show.

It bugged me the way no matter how nice Lorelai was about Rory kept insisting she was wrong about Jess. Drove me freakin' crazy. I half wish Rory had gone to Philadelphia and pushed him a lake like Luke, he deserved one more good lake pushing.

That is exactly how I feel. Even before the spin off was in talks, she didn't portray Jess to be any more then a half season crush. I don't think she ever wanted to portray him as Rory's love of her life! If she did, his personality and actions, at least just toward Rory, would have been alot different then it was and she wouldn't have thrown all those little anvils in our face that you mentioned fox (everyone always saying that they would move on and date other people). I don't deny that she liked this character she created, I don't know if it's because she liked Milo or was just because she was into the bad boy but either way, I'm not denying that she would have had him in alot more episodes and seasons had Milo not be the great guy he is and said no () but I really don't think Jess would have been Rory's end game boyfriend. I think he would have been the obstical that kept Rory from having that boyfriend, possibly just so that she could pursue her career and not her love life. Lorelai was the one ment to have the love life, Rory was the career women.

I feel the same way. Even though they aren't blood related, it still weirds me out that if L/L had married, R/J would be cousins. Imagine if L/L had married and R/J had miraculously worked out, them double dating and everything...

Ugh don't even get me started on that. How is it that Jess was more Rory's soulmate just because he read and liked music? [sarcasm]OMG, I love music and reading, I must be Rory's soulmate too ...however that would mean we are both lesbians....but who cares, we read and listen to music![/sarcasm]

The dumbest part of that is that both Dean and Logan loved reading and listening to music too but for some reason thats ignored in all the debates. Remember in the 1st season when Dean would wait for Rory at the bus stop (which as a sidenote, was so cute ), she'd get off the bus and the first thing he'd say, sometimes even before "Hi", had something to do with a book that Rory lent him. Thats another thing, Rory and Jess didn't even have the same taste in books, all those "meaningful conversations" about books they apparently had were most of the time, arguing about how this author or book is better then another. What sets him so far apart from other guys that read?

Well I disagree that Rory was just suppose to be only a career women I believe she was to have both but lets stick to the hate topic, L/L and R/J double dating would have made me sick Jess would probably spend the whole evening criticizing everything and nobody would have any. fun

I think if LL and RJ double dated Jess wouldn't make it out alive since Luke was always so worried about what Jess would do to Rory, and Lorelai hated him so much.
