Hmmm... she seemed a little nostalgic (regret is strong word - but yes, maybe?), she was in a bad place at the time too.
But Dean was really happy with his life and excited about his wife's fourth pregnancy. IMO he was truly over her.
I don't see why would Dean still want to be with her.

IMO that was the point. ASP wanted to show, that Dean was over her, Logan cared for her, but couldn't stay with her, and she didn't want to be with Paul.
But there was still someone who cared for her, although she didn't know it (Jess).
And I'm not saying that I am very exited about the ending, but IMO this is ASP's vision.

As for me, I honestly couldn't care less about the affair, it was the writers making him marry at the age of 18 that ruined it. Not the ship, but the narrative. They had already dumbed Dean down through the previous season, but to make him get married like that was just absurd.

I agree that they were too young to be together forever, but they could've easily fallen apart and back again if the writers hadn't gotten him married. As for the excitement, Dean's still Dean. He's the bus hopper, car building street fighter that'll make your heart accelerate. So, yes, they shoudn't have sticked together back then as one of those "from 15 to forever" couples, but they could and should have eventually reunited. The writers blew it.

Touldengal I agree, it definitely seemed to mean something. I wouldn't risk it off. I doubt they'd make them get back together, but the story's logic doesn't write it off. It does present it to us as something Rory wished she could have but has lost for good, though.

I wouldn't say regret is a strong word, she did sound regretful back when he got married.

I feel like Dean will always love her somehow, but that he knows better now. As much as he might feel for her, she's messed with him big time.

Dean and Logan definitely still cared for her too. Jess's case, I see as Rory's with Dean in the sense that Rory's done with Jess the way Dean is done with Rory. Rory blew it with Dean, Jess blew it with Rory.

Yes Rory blew it with Dean atill cares for her but their ship has sailed and its sucks the writersmessed up Rory and Dean's love story by s2 and then they had that affair. I wish the writers would wrote them differently back then.

I love the revival scene the awkward ex hug, Rory's speech to Dean that he was a good boyfriend

and the cornstrach throwback to theor first kiss

too!

Yes Rory knows he was the bestest boyfriend she ever had but screwed it up. Dean is truly the one that got away for her.

That scene!!! Such a classic!!!! It's funny how all of a sudden he just quit because they were from different worlds... it hadn't stopped him 4 years before. Yet another hint that their last s5 scene was just rushed in for him to leave the show for SPN.

It would've been nice to know what ASP's true vision for the characters was if the actors outside commitments didn't factor in? Like, if Jared hadn't gotten SPN, what would his SL have been?

For sure. Even the revival itself, that they say is their original ending, was limited to the actors schedules and all. Like, back then, how would it have been if s1Dean had lived through? If Dean hadn't gotten married for no reason at all? I can't help but wonder...
