The Meaning Behind Sophies
This is a play off of Logan's Master and Commander comment to Rory for what she should call him from episode 5.03 Written in the Stars.

For those who have not read Patrick O'Brian's novels about Jack Aubrey - Master and Commander is the first.

The squared-rigged ship that Aubrey is Master and Commander of is called Sophie. Those that crew in her refer to themselves as Sophies. It is the ship where Jack Aubrey first makes his name.

So, it is in that spirit that those who ship the Master and Commander and His Lady be known as: Sophies.

You Know You Are An Addicted Sophie when:
1) There is never enough R/L interaction.
2) Withdrawl can be lethal.
3) It causes dillusions, hysteria, visualization of pretty colors, extreme emotions, & other symptoms.
4) Once you start, you can't stop.
5) Prolonged Sophieness can cause one to feel alienated from loved ones and peers, thus causing them to spend large amounts of time on the boards just to feel part of a larger group.
6) Use of terms and overactive imagination/gushing can cause weird looks from Non-Sophies.
7) A selfhelp group might be necessary (eventually).
8) You've watched the R/L scenes so much, when you see a music video of them and theyre talking, you say their lines.
9)You can liken anything (pop culture, food, personal expirience, etc...) to R/L and actually have it make sense... to both oneself and others.
10) You have tendencies towards obsessiveness and/or dirtymindedness that are usually associated with Matt, Naked!Logan, etc.
11) You have a strange fascination with the and smilies and on occasion, the smilie. And now the smilie.
12) You develop psychic bonds with your fellow Sophies.
13) You can't go for more than a half hour without a Sophies avie.

Okay, so that episode officially sucked. Seriously, there was way more Taylor in it than Rory or Lorelai. I mean hell, it's still called "Gilmore girls", is it not? As in a show about two girls whose last name is Gilmore... not "Fugly annoying cardigan man"? There was one good scene in that episode, the end with Rory crying in the bathroom floor. That was wonderful and touching, all the rest, just... why? I don't care. And WeirdExcitedNestbuildingLuke is incredibly creepy. Also, bringing Dean back for this? So unnecessary.
I thought Rory's storyline (dealing with Logan pulling back, feeling confused and not knowing what went wrong) was interesting and important. I wanted to see it. But really, there was like one and a half half-assed scenes dealing with it. Instead they gave us Zach playing banjo, Paris begging for change (ew, that went a little too far) and.. heaps of Taylor of course, because really, I've been slowly dying inside this whole hiatus solely due to the lack of Taylor in my life. (Yes, I have boundless hatred for Taylor, why do you ask?) Focus on the girls. That's all I ask.

And I'm done ranting. Sorry guys.

well i just popped in to see all the thoughts on the episode because i wont see it until i can download it .. but from all that Mari's said now i don't want to .. and what's this about Rory crying over Logan? hmm.. juicy build up for next week! at the Taylorhate .. it's soooo that ugly sweater that gets us all angry! but it's mostly that Taylor bores me and most of the time he's just there for no other reason but to annoy us all like a piece of food stuck between your teeth you cant get out .. lol

That was a very disappointing ep, especially since we had to wait 6 weeks for that. Since Matt had to sit out one more ep, due to his contract, it made the storyline feel artificial to me. Or maybe it just sucked and I am looking for a reason. And again, Lor has another reason not to like Logan- he made Rory cry/sob. And that just isn't something you can forget so easily, even if he didn't technically do anything wrong.

You touched on everything I was thing, this was such a disappointing episode, I would have understood if it was sooner maybe even liked it, but for one of the final five episodes it was crap, all filler.

The town is annoying the crap out of me I don’t mind them, like them even but when we about ten minutes of the girls and then the rest about where Kirk is sleeping for the night. Taylor here and there and freaking everywhere, I start to get cranky.

Dean? What was the point of that really, what did we learn? That he’s bitter and hasn’t gotten over what’s happened it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. His attitude with Luke annoyed me, Luke didn’t break D/R up so he needed to tone it down before Luke but him in another headlock. (I so would have gone from just liking Luke to worshipping him if he would of, but alas a missed opportunity). 'Luke I want buy a house, I really, really want to buy a house' maybe other JJ will disagree with me but I’m not getting where this is coming from so suddenly.

This is it right? No more Dean, this was his swan song, good-bye Dean don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. Ta-ta, good-bye, don't write. I’m right, right? Someone tell me I’m right and that we won’t have to see this boy again.

I won’t even touch the Paris in the street thing, poor Liza. And the Lane upset, Zach banjo, I don’t really like L/Z but I’m not being biased, complete waste of time.

The only thing I like was Rory and Lorelai’s scene; yeah Lorelai most likely wants to kill our boy and frankly so do I. I know Rory and Logan are not a couple so he doesn’t owe her anything, but as girl I want to kick him in the shins, Doyle too. But the scene showed us how much Rory cares about Logan and it gave us a great Lorelai and Rory moment. only reason why I'm keeping the episode.

As for next week, okay show of hands who giggled at Logan the caged animal. With the pacing and the nose flaring that is one pissed off blond boy.

ITA with everything everyone is saying. Filler epis annoy me, Taylor annoys me, Kirk annoys me, Dean - God, I don't think annoyed is a strong enough word for him. Get your own show - leave ours alone!

But, oh, the pacing, even pissed-off pacing screams sex to me. Ahhhhhhhhhh, I love Logan.
