Why we like April:
01. Cause she missed her dad and he missed her
02. Cause she can get him to make good presents

Sure, no probs! :)

I was just wishing we had gotten to see more April in season 7...I mean we did get a fair bit and I liked her interactions with Luke, and for the most part I liked where they went with her character but I wish that (cough cough) if Lorelai and Luke hadn't broken up we could've seen her in different situations. And that maybe Anna wouldn't have moved to NM or whatever...I feel like April is kind of snarky, and is a tiny bit rebellious and I would've loved to have seen how Lorelai related to her, and how she saw her as different from Rory (who was quiet, shy, sweet, etc). Just cause she was smart, I don't think she was the perpetual "good girl" like Rory. Would she have gotten into trouble? I don't mean like major, she got pregnant kind of thing, but just smaller things...her mom is kind of insane and that seemed to have rubbed off a little. I really wish they had explored her character more.

I also think her and Rory's interactions would've been so much more interesting to watch than Rory and Gigi...who seemed to become like, perfect after Christopher started saying "no".

I agree, Jojo. It would've been nice to see her relationship with either Rory or Lorelai expand. She did share a similar snarky behavior & I think, had it continued, their relationship would've been really sweet to watch grow. :nod:

I seriously HATE son/daughter storylines that come out of nowhere. They never make any sense and I'm never able to care about the kid at all. This case wasn't different, sadly, but not surprisingly :no:

True that the out-of-the-blue-ness was a bit off-putting, I still enjoyed seeing Luke develop a relationship with his newfound daughter. I thought it was sweet, especially after claiming he hated kids and their jam hands. lol

I hate the long lost kid SLs too. But I liked April. It was nice to see Luke as a dad.

I think I've said this before here, but I'm just thankful it wasn't nearly as bad as the role of Dawn in Buffy! :sick: :rolleyes: Now that was a definite WTF storyline.

I think you have to be able to separate storylines from characters. I didn't like the way they seemed to use April to break up L/L (at ALL) but I loved her as a person. Sure, she was annoying...but have you ever met a 12 year old who isn't? I hang out with a lot of people that age and let me tell you...nope. Lol. It was realistic, it was endearing, it was funny. I think it was cool to see Luke as a dad, like people have said. It contrasted him with Christopher.

Yes, Jojo, very true. :nod: As you've said, I liked her as a person and/or character but the drama she created was incredibly frustrating to watch. :( I understand everything can't be bunnies & unicorns & the writers felt they needed to inject the show with a bit more drama, these things happen.

Yeah! And I mean she didn't ruin anything herself...and I thought her coming in created the potential for interesting family drama (which we never really saw) if L/L had stayed together/gotten married whatever, because while this show has explored a TON of different family dynamics and relationships, one they had yet to tackle was a child from a split parent household, who has to go back and forth (we had the not-so-nurturing parents in R&E, the "my parents don't really want me" in Jess, the runaway father w/Rory, the uber-strict tiger mom in Lane, the bizarre wealthy family dynamic in Logan as well as Paris and a lot of the Chilton/Yale students, etc...) Point is, the list could go on and on, and April could've been a good exploration of a kid who has to spend some of her prime growing up years juggling two families and the implications of that on everyone involved. We did get to see a bit of the Anna vs. Luke custody thing but it kind of took a back burner, and I often felt that became less about April and more about the two of them fighting. Idk :/
