I liked Korra too. This is kind of a good article about that, basically that she was different form a typical heroine (more confident and brash and different from Aang) and people didn't like that.

I gotta say I never minded her, yes she could be a bit annoying and arrogant, but she was always such a positive character, so it excuses that. I much more hate bad guy/girl characters that are arrogant, can't stand those. I already know I will hate azula with a passion lol.
