I haven't read that much classic literature on my own and the ones I had to read in school didn't inspire me to try more. Like I've never read a Jane Austen book. I will though!
I'll go with To Kill A Mockingbird. Even though it's not that old |

It's a coming of age story about a 14 year old boy who lives with his two brothers and they're all in a gang. It's not very long, about 12 chapters. You could finish it in a day.
