I was expecting a much more shocking death scene, to be honest, and then it was...nothing. Banal (do you use that word for "trivial"?). Which is actually why it's so horrible, because the scene barely focused on her or her face, like she was a thing, nothing but an obstacle to the guard, and literally no one noticed her and what was happening. It's like she didn't mean anything

And to everyone in charge, and to most inmates, she really didn't

I was annoyed by the black group in the next episode, though, being all "you didn't know her" and reminiscing about her, because for a long time we actually didn't even see them with Poussey, either. Specially ever since she started dating Brooke, who they also treated like crap every chance they got. So, playing the "she was our people" card when they were barely interacting with her was lame to me.

Exactly, she was totally robbed of all humanity and dignity. That was why it so instantly evoked memories of the Eric Garner police video - this horrific, inexcusable act was committed and everyone around was too busy fighting with each other to realise what was going down. I remember my stomach starting to churn when Poussey was laying there and wanting to shout, "Guys! Look! Help her!"

I'm only really connected to Taystee as a character, so it was her grief I really concerned myself with in the finale. Everyone else was kinda like white noise.

IDK, for me Poussey death was impactless. She was barely a character.
