To me it serves as a comparison with the Netflix version in the storytelling and the screenplay. Same story told differently.

Watching Hexer reminds me of Hercules and Xena series from the 90s.

So I finished Hexer. It's good that we found out what happened before Blaviken. I thought Renfri was a lot more evil than Netflix's version. Jaskier's episode was great. Geralt somewhat envy Jaskier for his poetry and simple life. The ending comes full circle as he found out what happened to his parents and wonders who he is. The whole Ciri story was so-so. So they met randomly at the temple and he lost her then finds her again. We also didn't see the siege of Cintra.

I liked that he already knew Ciri

yeah it shows how they built their bond. but still it was presented on screen as oh hey you're Ciri, child of surprise and i'm supposed to take care of you, you're my destiny, let's be friends. she was just there at the temple out of all places.

The child believed in it more than he did, that seemed to be the driving force.

yeah that's exactly how it felt like watching those scenes.

maybe he didn't exactly find his life's meaning, but he wanted to keep the child happy so that's good enough for me.
