Honestly, I don't have a problem with him. I had more issues with Zenzi this episode until they fixed it. I don't know. He's always been loud and brash. But, I understood his reasons for his attitude.

Claire was sus.

The characters on this show are unapologetically black. This Tom is not really all that different from the guy we met in 215. He's flawed (but not too much) and I understand his motivations a lot more in this episode than the pilot. i found this episode had a good dynamic.

He seemed so much more put together on ND...but this is more of a commentary on the writing than anything else. I can understand why he's acting like he is though.

I think its because he had a very controlled plot. The focus was also more on Nancy.

You're probably right. He was more of a plot device for Nancy's storyline. That's probably why he was written better there.

They're trying to make him as messy as possible on his show. It's very jarring though!

The backdoor pilot writing is always different from the spin off. Because the character is just a guest star on another show. I'm excluding main characters who got spin offs. Where was the adopted cousin? I don't even remember him being mentioned in this episode?

I don't find him too messy. I just think he is a stereotypical kid with too much access to wealth. Yes he is also gay and black, but its very much an only-child syndrome thing with him. But, there is enough there for me to still enjoy his character.

I remember the cousin was added to the cast later on...but maybe it was just announced later on.

Apparently he's going to have some kind of powers?

Oh definitely! I still enjoy Tian's performance...but he just seemed so much more "put together" on ND.

I am jealous. On the scale of annoying rich kids on the CW he is at the bottom end. But, he did come off as more put together on ND. So, I can see how that can be jarring for some people.
